The festive season will kick off in style at the Alley Theatre next weekend, with a packed month ahead that will help everyone get in the Christmas mood!
It all starts on Sunday, December 1st when the Lyngo Theatre presents ‘Heart of Winter’.
Christmas is coming and Sally can't sleep - it's far too hot! The weather has gone topsy-turvy. No-one can remember the last time it snowed or even rained, and her father can't sell any of his umbrellas. Find out what happens after Sally's dad reads her a snowy bedtime story and she dreams of her bedroom transformed into a glistening, white field where she meets the glowing heart of Winter.
A new musical production, the Heart of Winter is all about family, friendship and fun.
On Tuesday, December 3rd there will be a very special evening to celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. ‘Walking in the Air’ will feature the Strabane Brass Band and Knockavoe School.
On Friday, December 6th, Sollus Highland Dancers present their annual ‘Christmas with Sollus’ show.
It will once again feature up to 100 young talented dancers who will perform a mixture of traditional and newly choreographed pieces. The group, who have just returned from their performances in Disneyland Paris, have included some of their favourite Disney pieces, for all to enjoy and sing along to.
There will also be plenty for the creative artists out there, with Nicola Bamford from A Stone Rose showing you how to make a fresh Christmas door wreath during a workshop on Saturday, December 7th while the following Saturday (14th) there will be a Glass Fusion Crafts for Christmas workshop with Natasha Duffy where families can create unique Christmas decorations.
On Tuesday, December 17th there will be a beautiful Strabane Community Carol Service in aid of Marie Curie.
Then, on Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th, celebrate less than a week to the big day as the Belfast Music & Drama Society present Aladdin.
Packed with all of the traditional pantomime ingredients audiences expect, Aladdin features laugh-out-loud comedy, stunning scenery, beautiful costumes and plenty of boos and hisses. Follow Aladdin, his brother Wishee Washee, and, of course, his mother, on a spectacular adventure.
Featuring a wish-granting genie, an evil sorcerer and a lamp-full of laughs, it’s sure to take you to a magical place suitable for all the family!
That is just a small insight into all the festive goings on at the Alley, however, with ten more shows and workshops that will culminate with The Logues’ spectacular New Year’s Eve Eve special on Wednesday, December 30th you will definitely find something to help relieve the shopping stress!
Tickets are available for all shows and workshops except the St. Columba’s Christmas Pageant and Music for your Ears: A Very Christmas Bazaar shows, which have both sold out.
