Celebrations of the Showbands Weekend taking place at the Alley!
The Alley Theatre is paying tribute to all things Showband next weekend with a performance from the infamous Miami Showband and a showing of 1950’s film Rock Around the Clock.
Celebrations kick off on Friday 7th February with the launch of the Alley Courtyard’s NEW Walk of Fame which will play tribute to many notable characters including; Showband Clipper Carlton, Novelist Flan O’Brien & Mathematician Annie Russel Maunder, to name a few.
There will be refreshments on the night & an exhibition of artefacts from the showband era will be on display.
The Miami Showband will be headlining the weekend with their performance on Saturday 8th February.
Probably the most famous of them all - For all the right (and wrong) reasons. The MIAMI Showband were unique in that they were a crossover band, they played all the usual covers required to play the dance hall circuit but they had two very talented young songwriters in their ranks, FRAN OTOOLE and DES LEE who crafted some great songs together. Had their careers not been tragically interrupted, they would have become international superstars.
Today’s line-up of the Miami Showband still has DES LEE and RAY MILLER on board from the 1975 line-up. For a short time only we are offering a special ticket for both Friday and Saturday night for just £12. The offer end on Saturday 1st February so contact Box Office now to get your Celebrations of the Showband Weekend ticket.
Tickets for the Rock Around the Clock screening & Showband Memorabilia Exhibition on Friday 7th February are £3. Tickets for the Miami Showband on Saturday 8th are £15 (£12 concession), and these can be purchased through the Alley Theatre Box Office on 028 71 384444 or online www.alley-theatre.com
