Join us for 'Strabane' , a unique performance by poet Maureen Boyle and composer Úna Monaghan.

Award-winning poet Maureen Boyle is originally from Sion Mills. Her long-form narrative poem explores her family history, the story of Strabane and its links with Sion Mills and Donegal.

Úna Monaghan is one of Ireland's outstanding composers and harpists. In this new score she combines traditional instruments and melodies with contemporary electronic digital innovations and field recordings. She performs this specially composed piece in response to Maureen's poem.

    Maureen Boyle

    Maureen Boyle grew up in Sion Mills. Her debut poetry collection, ‘The Work of a Winter’, published by Arlen House Press, was shortlisted for the Strong/Shine Poetry Prize in 2019. Her poem ‘Strabane’, commissioned for Radio 4, was also published by Arlen House in 2020, with photographs by her husband Malachi O’Doherty. She lives and teaches in Belfast
